Welcome to the Cabinet of Curiosities!

Every actor begins with one simple question: What if?

This semester, teen performers will unlock the doors to a Cabinet of Curiosities filled with fascinating characters, mysterious circumstances, imaginative worlds, and unforgettable stories. Through scene work, improvisation, and character exploration, students will challenge themselves creatively while discovering new ways to communicate, collaborate, and perform with authenticity.

Whether you’re preparing for auditions, looking to strengthen your acting skills, or simply searching for a creative community, this class offers a welcoming space where every performer can continue to grow.

What is Teen Acting?

Teen Acting focuses on developing stronger performance skills through character work, script analysis, improvisation, ensemble collaboration, and scene study. Students will explore what motivates characters, how stories are built, and how actors use voice, movement, and emotion to create believable performances.

Classes combine theatre games with more advanced acting exercises that encourage performers to think critically, make bold artistic choices, and develop confidence both on and off the stage.

Students will have opportunities to challenge themselves while receiving supportive guidance from experienced teaching artists in a collaborative environment.

Throughout the semester, students will explore:

-Character analysis and development
-Script interpretation and scene study
-Improvisation and creative problem-solving
-Vocal technique and expressive communication
-Physical storytelling and movement
-Stage presence and performance confidence
-Ensemble collaboration and partner work
-Emotional honesty and authentic performance
-Audition preparation and rehearsal etiquette
-Performance techniques for stage and beyond
-Skills That Last a Lifetime
-Acting develops far more than performance ability.

Students strengthen communication, leadership, collaboration, empathy, adaptability, public speaking, critical thinking, and creative confidence while learning to trust both themselves and their fellow performers. They will also practice giving and receiving constructive feedback, solving creative challenges, and approaching every rehearsal with professionalism and curiosity.

These are skills that serve students in the classroom, future careers, auditions, interviews, and everyday life.

Building Toward the Showcase

Over the course of our 12-week semester, students will continue refining scenes and performance techniques before presenting selected work during our end-of-semester showcase for family and friends during Showcase Week (November 2, day and time to be announced).

The showcase celebrates each student’s artistic growth while providing valuable performance experience in a supportive setting.
