Mujeres Sin Miedo (Sound Culture) – Fort Worth, TX – FW Fringe Debut – MUJERES SIN MIEDO (WOMEN WITHOUT FEAR) – (Poetry/Spoken Word)
Mujeres Sin Miedo is a new spoken word ensemble comprised of Latina poets and performers—based in DFW and founded/directed by Tammy Melody Gomez. Mujeres Sin Miedo had their debut performance as an ensemble of seven women for SparkFest at Amphibian Stage Productions in Fort Worth in June 2026.
Members of this exciting ensemble have previously performed as professional actors on many DFW stages, including Artes de la Rosa, Teatro Dallas, Cara Mia Theatre, and Latino Cultural Center in Dallas. Several of these women, as visual artists, have had work featured in exhibits in galleries such as Kinfolk House (FW), Oak Cliff Cultural Center, and Latino Cultural Center.
Each ensemble member is a creative writer and most of them have published books of poetry or individual poems in literary journals. As dramatists, several members have participated in devised theatre projects and developed their own performance monologues.
To lift up her voice and speak her truth is what 21st century women increasingly are doing: to dispel the darkness of lies, to bring awareness about how women live and think and love, and to let others witness how we find joy in the celebration of our lives—no matter the struggles and hardships we might have faced. Mujeres Sin Miedo bring their poetry to the stage, with song, hand drumming, movement/dance, passion, and humor.
Latinas are having their say, and it feels good to hear them share their exuberant words of wisdom and witness.
