2025 God of Carnage

God of Carnage is a play by Yasmina Rez first published in 2008.

Before the play begins, two 11-year-old children get involved in an argument because one boy refuses to let the other boy join his 'gang'. One of the boys knocks out two of the other boy's teeth with a stick. That night, the parents of both children meet to discuss the matter. The father of the boy who knock out the teeth is a lawyer who is never off his mobile phone. His mother, is in "wealth management" (her husband's wealth, to be precise), and consistently wears good shoes. The father of the boy whose teeth were knocked out is a self-made wholesaler with an unwell mother. His wife is writing a book about Darfur. As the evening goes on, the meeting degenerates into the four getting into irrational arguments, and their discussion falls into the loaded topics of sexism, racial prejudice and homophobia.

God of Carnage was awarded a Tony Award in 2009 for Best Play.
