The Eleventh Street Saints
The Eleventh Street Saints feature Robert Handley on vocals and guitar, Jeff Ayers on drums, Brad Hammack on bass and vocals, Robin Mikalunas on piano, vocals, and guitar, and Johnny Divine on guitar and vocals.
The Saints formed though common friendships and a mutual admiration for each other's talents. The focal point is on the extraordinary vocal talents of Robert Handley and the distinctive song choices. Robert worked with Johnny Divine for two years playing six nights a week at Little Brothers, the legendary country and western night club here in Wichita Falls, before moving to Alaska where he found more than enough work as a singer and guitarist and found a chance to really sharpen his talents on vocals and guitar. Robert moved back to his native Texas and soon joined up with Johnny again in the band Heartbreak. The other members of The Eleventh Street Saints have worked together in different band formats going back over forty years, but this time an emphasis is being put on playing a large variety of great songs that not everyone around here does. In order to pull this off, a great vocalist would be a necessary asset. Johnny suggested his friend and band mate, Robert, and here they are!
The song styles range from the catalogs of The Beatles to Bob Wills, Guy Clark to Frank Sinatra, Eva Cassidy, to J. J. Cale, Etta James to Patsy Cline, Chuck Berry to Louis Armstrong, mixed in with a few originals. There are jazz standards and western swing songs, ballads and pop tunes, rockers and love songs.
If you believe that variety is the spice of life and you love a wonderful vocalist with a great band, The Eleventh Street Saints might just be what your looking for. Throw your support their way and have a great time doing it!
