Evening of Spanish Zarzuela!

Come enjoy the beautiful and often humorous songs of Spanish Zarzuela! Our singers will give brief explanations of the stories of the songs, often taken from melodramatic Spanish opera theater of the late 19th century, very popular in Madrid, Spain then, and to this day. Tenor Sergio Cepeda and soprano Judith Rodriguez will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Heejung Kang, cellist Dr. Sara Birnbaum Hood, and violinist LeeAnne Chenoweth, who will also perform instrumental works by Spanish composers. These composers include Fernandez Arbos, Isaac Manuel Albeniz, Luisa Fernanda and more, from tangos to the habanera!
