Timeless Concerts Box Office

MUSIC OF THE NORTH COUNTRIES

Texas is hot in July! We take you to the northern countries of the world. Cool off listening to the one of the greatest composers of all time, Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) of Russia. He composed a beautiful work for piano, violin and cello, his trio Op. 50. You know his Nutcracker Suite, Swan Lake, 1812 Overture and more. Tchaikovsky has made careers, with his compositions not only being beautiful but challenging. Pianist Van Cliburn was catapulted to fame after winning the International Tchaikovsky piano competition in Moscow in 1958, at age 23. We will perform the first movement of Tchaikovsky's seldom heard trio, as well as his songs for soprano. We will contrast his work with music of contemporary composer Ola Gjeilo, born in Norway in 1978. (Yay-lo) Gjeilo's music is described as cinematic and evocative, with a lush, harmonious sound.

Performers: violinists LeeAnne Chenoweth and Keyreel Raskolenko, cellist Alice Jeong-A Lee, pianist Heejung Kang, soprano Youna Hartgraves, and tenor Sergio Cepeda. Post-concert pianist Erik Barnes (Hickman Center only) will take your requests to make the party memorable! As always, we provide complimentary wine, soft drinks, and snacks. Although BYOB is allowed at the Hickman, bottles must be left with the bartender for pouring.

There is table seating for 2 or up to 12. Reservations are needed early for larger groups, as we cannot guarantee fitting late ticket buyers into previously reserved groups. We seat from front to back in order of date/time tickets purchased.
