Gillian Holroyd possesses the rare ability to cast spells and perform supernatural feats. When she casts a spell on publisher Shepherd Henderson to draw him away from a rival and because she is drawn to him herself, he falls deeply in love with her and proposes marriage. However, Gillian faces an unexpected obstacle, as witches are unable to fall in love, leading to a series of complications.
