Rex Richardson
Pipestone, MN: The Pipestone Performing Arts Center is proud to present internationally acclaimed trumpeter Rex Richardson on Tuesday, May 5 at 7:00 p.m. for an unforgettable evening of music that blends jazz virtuosity with classical brilliance.
Hailed by critics as “one of the finest virtuosos of our time” and “trumpet royalty,” Richardson has built a global reputation for his extraordinary technical ability, expressive lyricism, and genre-defying performances. A Yamaha Performing Artist and 2008 Brass Herald International Personality of the Year, Richardson has performed in over 40 countries and appeared with renowned ensembles including the Phoenix Symphony, Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, and the U.S. Army Field Band.
Equally at home in jazz and classical settings, Richardson has collaborated with legendary artists such as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Arturo Sandoval, and Kurt Elling. His performances are known for their energy, creativity, and emotional depth, offering audiences a truly unique concert experience.
In addition to his performing career, Richardson is a dedicated educator and was recently appointed trumpet professor at the University of South Carolina. His recordings have received international acclaim, including multiple “CD of the Year” honors and praise for his “astonishing range and beauty.”
