Welcome to the Cabinet of Curiosities!
Every shelf holds a mystery. Every drawer hides a story. Every adventure begins with a little curiosity.
This semester, our young performers will unlock the doors to an enchanting Cabinet of Curiosities where imagination knows no bounds. Inspired by whimsical worlds like Alice in Wonderland and timeless fantasy tales, students will journey through magical forests, curious tea parties, hidden kingdoms, mysterious inventions, playful creatures, and extraordinary adventures. Each week’s theme becomes the spark for dramatic play, storytelling, creative movement, and theatrical exploration.
No two classes are exactly alike, giving students something new to discover every week while continuing to build confidence, friendships, and performance skills.
What is Creative Dramatics?
Creative Dramatics is an imaginative introduction to theatre that places the focus on exploration rather than perfection. Students learn by pretending, collaborating, creating characters, solving problems, and bringing stories to life through movement and play.
Rather than memorizing long scripts, children actively participate in games, improvisation, storytelling, and creative activities that naturally introduce important theatre concepts while strengthening valuable life skills.
This class is perfect for students who love to imagine, tell stories, dress up, perform, or simply want a welcoming place to build confidence and make new friends.
Throughout the semester, students will explore:
-Character creation and imaginative storytelling
-Introductory acting and stage performance
-Creative movement and expressive body language
-Improvisation and dramatic play
-Voice projection and speaking with confidence
-Teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving
-Listening, focus, and following directions
-Emotional expression and empathy through storytelling
-Building confidence in front of others
-Developing friendships through ensemble activities
More Than Just Theatre
While students are having fun creating magical worlds and unforgettable characters, they’re also developing skills that benefit them far beyond the stage.
Creative Dramatics helps children strengthen communication, creativity, confidence, active listening, social-emotional learning, cooperation, and critical thinking—all through imaginative play. Our instructors encourage students to take creative risks, celebrate their ideas, and discover that there is no single “right” way to tell a story.
Every child is given opportunities to participate at their own comfort level while being gently encouraged to try new things and grow throughout the semester.
Building Toward the Showcase
Throughout our 12-week semester, students will gradually build the confidence and skills they’ve developed into a joyful end-of-semester showcase for family and friends during Showcase Week (November 2, day and time to be announced).
The showcase is designed to celebrate each student’s growth—not perfection—and gives families the opportunity to see everything their young performer has been creating, imagining, and learning throughout the semester.
Who Should Enroll?
Creative Dramatics is perfect for:
-First-time theatre students
-Returning performers looking to continue building their confidence
-Children who love imaginative play
-Students who enjoy stories, pretend games, and creative activities
-Kids looking to build friendships in a welcoming environment
No previous theatre or dance experience is required—just a willingness to wonder, imagine, and explore. We can’t wait to welcome your young performer into our Cabinet of Curiosities!
What Can Families Expect Each Week?
Each class includes a thoughtful balance of warm-ups, theatre games, skill-building activities, creative exploration, and opportunities to perform in a supportive environment. While every week introduces a new adventure inspired by our semester theme, students continue building foundational theatre skills that grow from week to week, culminating in our end-of-semester showcase
