12-Week Semester

Welcome to the Cabinet of Curiosities!

Every Broadway performer knows that versatility is one of the greatest tools you can bring into the rehearsal room.

This semester, step inside our Cabinet of Curiosities, where each week unlocks a new style of movement, a fresh challenge, and another opportunity to grow as a well-rounded performer. From bold, high-energy combinations to expressive storytelling through dance, students will expand their movement vocabulary while building confidence, adaptability, and
performance quality.

Whether you’re preparing for college auditions, building a professional portfolio, or simply looking to become a stronger musical theatre performer, this class is designed to help you move with confidence and versatility.

What is Musical Theatre Dance?

Musical Theatre Dance is a technique and choreography class created for performers who want to strengthen their dance abilities while preparing for
the next step in their performing journey.

Each week, students will learn an original combination inspired by a different musical theatre style, choreographer, or era. Rather than focusing on one production or routine all semester, performers will experience a variety of movement styles, learning to adapt quickly to new choreography—just as they would in professional auditions and rehearsal rooms.

Throughout the semester, students will also record polished choreography, allowing them to build a collection of high-quality dance footage that can be used for personal dance reels, college prescreens, audition submissions, and professional portfolios.

Throughout the Semester, Students Will Explore:

-Musical theatre dance technique
-Broadway-inspired choreography
-Jazz, contemporary, Fosse, commercial theatre, and additional dance styles
-Performance quality and storytelling through movement
-Musicality, rhythm, and timing
-Picking up choreography quickly
-Dance audition etiquette and professionalism
-Confidence performing in front of others
-Adaptability and versatility across multiple styles
-Creating polished dance footage for reels and auditions
-Build Your Dance Reel

One of the most exciting aspects of this class is the opportunity to leave with more than just stronger dance skills.

Throughout the semester, students will film select choreography combinations, giving them professional-quality dance footage to begin or expand their personal dance reel. These videos are an excellent resource for college applications, summer intensive auditions, casting submissions, and professional opportunities, while also serving as a wonderful way to track personal growth as a performer.

Train Like a Performer

Success in musical theatre isn’t just about learning choreography—it’s about learning how to think on your feet.

Students will practice learning choreography efficiently, adapting to different movement styles, taking direction, retaining combinations, and performing with confidence under time constraints. These are the same skills expected in auditions, rehearsals, and professional performance environments, making this class an excellent stepping stone for aspiring performers.

Our instructors foster a positive, energetic environment where dancers are encouraged to challenge themselves, embrace new styles, and continue growing as versatile artists.

Who Should Enroll?

This class is perfect for:

-High school students preparing for college theatre or dance programs
-Community theatre performers looking to strengthen their dance skills
-Performers building audition materials or professional dance reels
-College students and adults pursuing musical theatre opportunities
-Anyone looking to become a more confident, versatile musical theatre dancer

-Previous dance experience is recommended, though performers do not need to be advanced dancers. Students should come ready to move, work hard, think quickly, and have fun exploring a wide variety of musical theatre dance styles.

*By the end of the semester, students will have a collection of filmed choreography clips showcasing multiple dance styles—perfect for college prescreens, auditions, summer intensives, personal websites, and casting submissions.
