Unlock Your Curiosity
Every actor begins with one simple question: What if?
This semester, we’ll open the doors to our Cabinet of Curiosities—a place where curiosity sparks creativity and every class offers a new opportunity to discover something about yourself as both an artist and a storyteller.
Whether you’ve always dreamed of taking an acting class, are returning to the stage after years away, or simply want a creative outlet in a welcoming environment, Adult Acting is the perfect place to begin. No previous acting experience is required just a willingness to step outside your comfort zone, explore new ideas, and have fun.
What is Adult Acting?
Adult Acting is an introduction to the craft of acting, designed for beginners and returning performers alike. Through theatre games, guided exercises, improvisation, monologue work, and scene exploration, students will develop the essential tools actors use to create authentic, engaging performances.
Rather than focusing on memorizing a full-length production, this class emphasizes the process of becoming a stronger performer. Students will learn how actors build believable characters, connect with a script, communicate with confidence, and tell meaningful stories on stage. Every class is designed to be encouraging, collaborative, and engaging, creating an environment where creativity can flourish and everyone feels comfortable taking artistic risks.
Whether your goal is community theatre, auditions, improving public speaking skills, or simply trying something you’ve always wanted to do, this class provides a supportive introduction to the art of acting.
Throughout the Session, Students Will Explore:
-The foundations of acting technique
-Character development and objective work
-Introduction to monologue performance
-Scene study and script analysis
-Improvisation and spontaneous storytelling
-Voice, diction, and projection
-Physical storytelling and stage movement
-Active listening and authentic reactions
-Ensemble collaboration and creative problem-solving
-Stage confidence and performance etiquette
More Than Just Acting
Acting is about so much more than memorizing lines.
As students develop their performance skills, they’ll also strengthen communication, creativity, confidence, collaboration, emotional awareness, adaptability, and public speaking. Theatre encourages participants to think critically, listen intentionally, trust their instincts, and approach challenges with curiosity and confidence.
Our instructors strive to create a supportive, low-pressure environment where every student is encouraged to grow at their own pace while
discovering the joy of storytelling alongside fellow artists.
Building Toward the Showcase
Throughout the six-week session, students will build upon the techniques they’ve learned as they prepare material to share in our Adult Acting
Showcase this November. Family and friends will be invited to celebrate each performer’s growth and enjoy an evening of monologues, scenes, and
theatrical storytelling.
The showcase is designed to celebrate progress, creativity, and confidence while giving every student the opportunity to experience the excitement of performing for a live audience.
Who Should Enroll?
This class is perfect for:
-Adults with little or no acting experience
-Community theatre performers looking to strengthen their craft
-Anyone interested in improving confidence or public speaking
-Creative individuals searching for a fun, engaging artistic outlet
-Adults returning to theatre after time away
-Anyone who’s ever thought, “I’ve always wanted to try acting.”
No previous theatre experience is necessary. Bring your curiosity, your creativity, and a willingness to explore we’ll take care of the rest. We can’t wait to welcome you into our Cabinet of Curiosities.
